There is no perfect time for Chelsea star Lucas Piazon to leave Stamford Bridge other than the upcoming January transfer market. The reason is not far-fetched — he hasn’t played a single match for the Blues so far this season and that doesn’t look like it’s going to change any time soon.
The 24-year-old is too talented to be on Chelsea’s bench on regular basis, hence, a loan or permanent move is the best way to go for the Brazilian.
As a player who can operate as both right and left winger, centre-forward and midfielder, it won’t be difficult to find a suitor for his services.
Since Sarri’s decision to hold on to his signature during the summer transfer window, the former Brazilian U-23 player has failed to be involved in any first-team action and that is negatively telling on his fitness level and his overall performances.
Though he features regularly for the Blues youth team, how much competition is he getting the inferior Premier League 2?
According to reports, Leeds United are keeping close tabs on his situation at Stamford Bridge but it is yet to be seen if they are going to contact the Blues for his signature.
Should he Consider a move to Leeds United?
For a player of his calibre, a switch to Bielsa’s team appears to be a downward trend but it will surely offer him the chance to catapult himself back to prominence at Chelsea in the next season.
With the experience he gathered while playing for Reading and Fulham some seasons ago, it won’t take the player mú time to adapt to how hard or difficult a life in the Championship could be.
His pace and understanding of how things are done in the League will surely be an added advantage to Piazon, should he decide to join Leeds for the rest of the season.
Though Leeds United manager Bielsa is not known to be ‘friendly’ with players on loan from Stamford Bridge, Piazon’s quality and trickery will be too much to be ignored by the manager.
Is Sarri willing to let go of the Player?
This is another question that will be answered correctly only by time.
Despite making his plans for the Brazilian known to the public before the start of 2018-19 season, Maurizio Sarri has failed to keep to his promise.
12 matches into the season, Piazon hasn’t been in any matchday squad, not to talk of making the team’s bench.
Considering how hectic next month would be for Chelsea, Sarri could decide to block Piazon’s proposed move to Leeds United.
However, The winger must force a move out of Stamford Bridge in January by submitting a transfer request form to the club’s hierarchy so as to avoid sitting on the bench throughout the season.
Since he was promoted to first-team football in 2012-13 season, the 24-year-old winger has played just three matches.
He has spent some time with Malaga, Vitesse, Eintracht Frankfurt, Reading, Fulham — helping the Cottagers got a promotion to the Premier League last season
