According to reports, Liverpool FC are set to do battle with Arsenal for the signature of AS Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar next summer.
The Daily Mirror is claiming that the France international forward is set to attract interest from both English clubs given his emergence at Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.
The same publication states Arsenal are still in the transfer market for Lemar despite the arrival of Armenian international attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan from rival club Manchester United.
Mkhitaryan, 29, is seen as a short-term option to strengthen Arsene Wenger’s attack but the Arsenal boss is believed to be interested in signing a promising youngster for the long term.
The Gunners missed out on the young talent’s signature during the summer despite Arsenal agreeing on a stunning £92million deal with the French Ligue 1 champions.
Liverpool FC are speculated to be keen on signing the French man following Brazilian Philippe Coutinho’s move to Catalan side FC Barcelona.
Liverpool have already brought in Virgil van Dijk in a £75million deal from English side Southampton earlier in the month.
Tagged as one of the best talents in Europe, Thomas Lemar was a key member of the Monaco team that managed to defeat mega-rich PSG to the French Ligue 1 title last season.
