According to Daily Star, Premier League club Arsenal are eyeing Paris Saint Germain attacker Lucas Moura after the former Ligue 1 Champions completed the world record transfer signing of Brazilian star Neymar Jr.
Big transfer moves always seem to have knock-on effects in the game of football, with the Gunners benefitting extremely in recent times.
Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid transfer deal saw Arsenal pick up Germany international Mesut Özil, the Luis Suarez to Barcelona transfer deal helping them get Chilean Alexis Sanchez, and now it looks like Neymar to PSG transfer could help Arsenal too.
According to reports in Brazil, due to the increased competition, French club PSG are willing to cash in on Lucas Moura who is also seeking regular first-team football.
The origin of the claims is UOL Esporte, with the Brazilian news outlet claiming that the Gunners are at the apex of the queue for the PSG winger after already having one offer turned down.
Lucas has played over 200 matches for the Parisian side and won 15 trophies with the former Ligue 1 Champions, reportedly after £27 million transfer to the French Capital.
It does seem a bit less likely that the Gunners would make a transfer move for Lucas Moura. After months of pursuing Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, a move for the PSG forward would be somehow strange.
Moura is a bit similar to players like Theo Walcott, meaning some sales would have to be done before a move for the Brazilian can take effect. If the Gunners were to go for any PSG forward, then German Julian Draxler should be the primary target.
