Arsene Wenger remains determined to secure the services of Thomas Lemar from Monaco and could attempt to help fund the transfer by offloading as much as eight first-team players.

The North Londoners have already broken their transfer record this summer transfer window with the £52million signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, and the Monaco star is the next big player on the top of Wenger’s wishlist.

Lemar, surely won’t come cheap, however, with some rumour that the Ligue 1 champions will request as much as £80m for the star forward in a deal including additional bonuses.

The Gunners are reportedly set to launch a third offer for the talented youngster, but it seems clear that some players will be shown the exit door out of the Emirates Stadium first, with some contenders emerging.

According to Daily Mail, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has some squad players who look to have little or no future with Arsenal, with mid-table clubs interested in the likes of Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, and Calum Chambers.

Players like Frenchman Olivier Giroud, Lucas Perez, Jack Wilshere, Wojciech Szczesny and Mathieu Debuchy are all being linked with clubs around Europe.

While this decision might seem a lot of sacrifices to go after just one player, former Arsenal winger Robert Pires has backed the move for Lemar as he believes the 21-year-old a huge talent.
