Thomas Lemar

Arsenal are making waves in this summer transfer market again, and reports from the Daily Express indicate, Arsenal have agreed the transfer of AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar for a fee of £48m plus add ons.

Arsenal have already broken their transfer record this summer transfer window having signed Alexandre Lacazette from Olympique Lyon for £52.7m, but are looking for further additions to reinforce their attack.

Arsenal have been chasing the 21-year-old for a while now. They have had two of their offers £30m and £40m turned down. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger have now upped their bid which has finally convinced the French club to send Lemar to London.

The Monaco star had earlier declared interest in playing in England and was reportedly disgruntled with Monaco for standing in his way.

The Gunners are currently away on their pre-season tour and will not announce the signing of the Frenchman until they’ve returned home.

Reports indicate that AS Monaco has requested Arsenal to avoid making an unveiling until they have found a good replacement for the Frenchman.

The versatile attacker can play on both flanks and even play in the centre. With his shooting skills, the wonderkid never shies away from testing the goalkeeper from long range and has a ‘wicked’ left foot to go with it.

The Frenchman is also a brilliant set-piece taker, and that’s a skill widely acceptable in England. The fast and strong forward can also supply good crosses from both flanks, and at 21 years, he is yet to reach his peak.
