Chelsea winger Victor Moses is not scared of the competition after the Blues signed Italian Davide Zappacosta.
The Blues spent all summer seeking to sign another right wing-back — Victor Moses’ current position — but were only able to sign Italian Davide Zappacosta from Serie A side Torino for £23million on transfer deadline day.
The Italian is a player whom Chelsea manager Antonio Conte knows too well. He selected the 25-year-old winger in Italy’s squad for Euro 2016, although Zappacosta did not make the final list.
The Italian tactician has brought his countryman to compete for Victor Moses’ position at Stamford Bridge.
But Nigerian Victor Moses is not fazed by the recent acquisition one bit and told news outlet Standard Sport he is ready for the competition.
Moses’ bond with his Antonio Conte will be hard to break despite the fact that Zappacosta has some kind of relationship with the Chelsea manager before now.
Chelsea bought Victor Moses from Wigan Athletic for £9m back in 2012, but after a promising first season, as a squad member, he winger was loaned out to Merseyside club Liverpool, then Stoke and then West Ham.
The damage caused by the Blues’ opening-day loss to FC Burnley has repaired before afterwards, with wins over Tottenham and Everton.
Still, with the Premier League Champions returning to the UEFA Champions League next week after last season’s absence, there are a lot of challenges to come.
