Leicester City star player Riyad Mahrez has emerged as a target for Arsenal this summer and has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates.
It is understood that his club are demanding £50million for him, and according to new reports, the Algerian has been left in limbo by the gunner’s refusal to meet Leicester’s asking price.
Mahrez has made known his intention to quit Leicester City despite playing a great role in their impressive performances last two seasons that saw them winning the Premier League title to the astonishment of the world.
The 2015/16 PFA Player of the Season has handed in a transfer request to go ply his trade elsewhere.
And it is understood that Arsene Wenger’s side have entered into negotiations with the foxes but are unwilling to pay more than £35m for the Algeria international.
It was also added that Mahrez is only considered as a back-up option to Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
Even though Riyad is an important member in the Leicester squad, the player’s form tailed off dramatically last term and he was just able to score 6 goals with 3 assists. So, it is understood that for this reason, Arsene Wenger’s side are not encouraged to splash as huge as £50M on the player.
Arsenal won’t be playing in the Champions League next season after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season, but have been able to sign Lacazette from Lyon this summer.
