World No. 3 Alexander Zverev is confident of pushing Roger Federer down the rankings by the end of this year.

The German believes he can actually become the second best tennis player few months from now, and he has explained how he can achieve his aim practically.

36-year-old Roger sat on the top spot of the rankings after winning the Australian Open earlier this year – the oldest player in history to do that.

However, Rafael Nadal dethroned him and dropped him to the second spot, while Zverev became the third world best.

However, the 21-year-old stands a big chance of finishing the year second in the ranks if he can win the US Open.

The German will clash with Alex De Minaur in the final stage of the tournament, and a win will put alot of pressure on Roger Federer.

Speaking ahead of the game, Alexander expressed how delighted he is to have reached the final of the Citi Open, and he is hopeful of playing ‘another good match’, so he could ‘go to Toronto with another title’

Although he was being tipped to win the crown, Alexander is not taking things for granted, and he added that he expects ‘a tough match’
