During the past transfer window, Liverpool star player Philippe Coutinho was greatly linked with a move away from Anfield after he emerged as a target for La Liga giants Barcelona.
Despite that the Catalan giants were willing to splash big on the player, Liverpool insisted that they won’t sell the Brazilian for whatever price they’ll be offered. But even with their stance, the Merseyside club were still keen to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar before the transfer window closed last Thursday.
It is understood that Jurgen Klopp’s side lodged two bids for the Frenchman and their medical crew were even set to conduct a medical for the player. Unfortunately, a deal was never struck.
Apart from Liverpool, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are also deeply interested in signing the versatile attacker and they were speculations that the Emirates club submitted an offer in the region of £92m for him – which was accepted by Monaco.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were also ready to bring out £75m for the talented player and Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev made it known that the player himself is interested in joining Liverpool. However, a transfer couldn’t occur to either Liverpool or Arsenal because the Ligue I champions chose to block his departure on deadline day as time was running out to replace him.
However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made it known that he will try again for the youngster in the future, and Jurgen Klopp will likely do the same.
