A video has emerged of Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho waiting to shake hands with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte before the Red Devils 1-0 loss at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.
The former Chelsea boss and Antonio Conte stole the headlines after the Chelsea win, as the Italian tactician’s wild celebrations at the Bridge meant Manchester United’s boss was forced to head for the changing rooms without the traditional manager handshake.
Jose Mourinho confirmed Antonio Conte disappeared immediately after the match, stating: ‘You want me [Jose Mourinho] to go and chase him [Antonio Conte] in the middle of the field? I [Jose Mourinho] was there [at the technical area]. I [Jose Mourinho] shook hands with the people who were there [technical area].’
The Portuguese has been critical of Antonio Conte’s behaviour in the past season, accusing the Chelsea boss of ‘humiliating’ him after Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat at the Bridge last campaign.
Notwithstanding their individual differences, Jose Mourinho was seen waiting for the former Italy head coach outside the dressing rooms ahead of the start of the game. The greeting looked civil but, unsurprisingly, little words were exchanged between the duo.
After about thirty seconds of waiting for Conte, the Chelsea manager walked in Jose Mourinho’s direction but failed to stretch out his hand for Jose to shake.
The former Real Madrid manager then shook hands with some of the Blues backroom staff before going into the changing room.
