Unai Emery: Arsenal to approach West Ham game with all seriousness

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has hinted that his side will not take anything for granted when they play host to 19th placed West Ham in London this Saturday. Both teams are yet to pick up points in the current league campaign but Emery believes his team can kick-start their season with a win over the Hammers this weekend.

With two defeats in two matches, the Spanish gaffer admits that the demand is very high but was quick to add that the performances are getting a lot better pointing out that the building process will continue till the expected results begin to show on the pitch.

It is expected that the former Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain coach will ring in some changes to ensure the Gunners get off to a good start in the London derby. He said:

“My idea is control,”

“Control in the game – but the opposition want the same thing.

“I know we need intensity in every moment in the games. This control is to not let the opposition do their work, their play.

“For me, we didn’t have the control in our first two matches. Saturday is another match, tactically it is different. I want to have more control to find the win in this match.”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be hoping to open his goalscoring account this season after missing a host of chances in the game against Chelsea last week. Emery has backed the former Borussia Dortmund striker to score lots of goals for the Gunners this season.

Fans hoping for a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette partnership upfront against West Ham will be disappointed as the Manager has no intentions of pairing the two strikers up front for now. The coach, however, hinted that the team needs to have more control, possession and positioning on the field of play to achieve their objective.
