Summer Signing Labelled A Liverpool Flop

Naby Keita

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has called summer signing Naby Keita a flop based on what he has produced for the club in his first campaign for the Reds since his big-money move last summer.

The Reds paid a whopping £53m to secure the signing of Naby Keita from German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig at the start of the season.

He had earlier scored 14 goals in 57 games for RB Leipzig before his transfer to Liverpool.

Steve Nicol believes that Naby Keita has not lived up to expectations as he dampened the recent euphoria surrounding his form for Liverpool in the last two games.

While he was on ESPN, former Reds defender Nicol said that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would have expected more from what Naby Keita has produced this season.

Naby Keita has been praised for his performances in the last two Liverpool games.

He drew high praise from both Klopp and Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane recently.

Naby Keita scored one of the goals for his first goal for Liverpool as the Reds came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1 away from home in the Premier League.

He made it two goals in as many games with the opening strike in the 2-0 win over FC Porto in their Champions League quarterfinal first leg meeting at Anfield on Tuesday.
