See why this player could be the next Lionel Messi

Football World is beginning to see the end of Messi and Ronaldo’s era as both players failed to win any personal award for the first time in 10 years.

The two players have won the Balon d’Or award five times each but none of them was able to win any European award during the award night two months ago.

This means another generation is set to break out but the players capable of replacing both men remain to be seen.

Former Barcelona star Neymar was tipped as the next player to step into his former teammate’s shoe, however, his big-money move to Ligue 1 champions Paris St-German has somewhat slowed down his progress.

As much as the Brazilian has been wonderful with the team, he hasn’t been as effective as he could have been if he had remained with the Blaugranas.

Is Leroy Sane capable of replacing Messi or Ronaldo?

Though the German didn’t have a huge success this year, he put up an impressive display against Bournemouth last night to remind everyone of his qualities and whom he could become in the nearest future.

The 22-year-old was left out of Germany’s World Cup squad in June, while his place in Guardiola’s team was under intense pressure at the start of the campaign.

However, the young winger was given a rare start by the Spaniard against the cherries yesterday and he was a thorn in the flesh of Bournemouth’s defence.

He was lively throughout the game as he put up a man-of-the-match display. He forced an opening goal of the game, before having a hand in the second goal.

To put an icing on the cake, the German assisted City’s last goal of the game. His display against Cherries was a quick reminder of his talents but he needs to work on his attitude on and off the pitch.

When asked for the reason the youngster was left out of World Cup squad by Joachim Leow, Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Tony Kroos revealed Sane has a questionable attitude.

Just as his compatriot, Pep Guardiola equally question the youngster on his attitude during games, therefore, it’s important Sane work on his character on and off the pitch.

Once that is accomplished by the winger, he will be classified among players capable of replacing the two great stars.

Other players who are also capable of stepping into Messi and Ronaldo’s shoe include PSG’s Kylian Mbappe, Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezzman, Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze, among many other upcoming stars
