Leon Goretzka

According to reports, Schalke star player Leon Goretzka is attracting transfer interest from some premier league giants including Manchester United and Liverpool, as he gets set to be a free agent next year.

Goretzka has refused to sign a new contract at Schalke, and he will be free to walk away for nothing at the end of this term. And as a result of this, a handful of top European clubs are showing an interest in getting his signature.

As things stand now, both Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the clubs regarded as the two major contenders for the midfielder, though it was said that he could also have offers to move to England.

German publication Bild made it known that Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool are examining the German international’s situation ahead of next year.

Goretzka has been linked with Arsenal in recent times, but it appears the North London club are no longer among the major contenders for the 22-year-old’s signature.

Bild also report that clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have cooled their interest in the player.

Leon has been impressive at Schalke, and has long been regarded as one of the top young players in the German top flight. His impressive performances have enabled him established himself as a regular for his side since the 2013/14 season.

Definitely, it will be a big blow to Schalke to lose a player like Goretzka on a free, but the sides interested in him will see this as a fantastic piece of business next summer.
