According to reports, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is planning to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez on a free transfer this summer.

Despite City rivals, Manchester City being hot favourites to sign Sanchez, rivals Manchester United are now also eyeing the Chile international, as reported by talkSPORT.

The report suggests that United boss Jose Mourinho wants to pick up the Chilean on a free transfer when his current deal expires in the summer.

Pep Guardiola’s team are reportedly set to make a move for the former Barcelona star in January, according to the same publication, so if the Red Devils want to sign him on a free, they’d have wait and hope that Manchester City wasn’t successful in their bid.

The Daily Star is also reporting that Spanish La Liga giant Real Madrid, Bundesliga side Bayern Munich and Serie A champions Juventus are all expected to be closely watching the Chilean, United don’t seem to have the upper hand to sign him for free.

The English Premier League rules allow for foreign teams to negotiate deals with the unsettled Chilean about a pre-contract agreement from next year January. Manchester United, on the other hand, would need to hold on until May before they’re permitted to put their bid to Arsenal’s number seven.
