Shocking! Injured Liverpool star left out of UEFA Champions League squad

There have been concerns over the severeness of Liverpool star Nathaniel Clyne’s back injury after he was dropped out of the Reds UEFA Champions League squad.

Jurgen Klopp’s side submitted their 25-man squad list to UEFA, but the England international’s name was not included, along with want-away winger Lazar Markovic whom the Merseyside club could not sell in the recently closed summer transfer window.

England international midfielder Adam Lallana was named in the squad despite still out injured with a thigh problem, when examined last month, was expected to remain out for about three months, while youngsters Sheyi Ojo and Ryan Kent have also been added to the squad list despite being out on loan at Championship side Fulham and German side Freiburg respectively.

The Reds cannot now alter their UEFA Champions League squad until the knockout round in February, should they qualify, which means defender Clyne is likely to be unavailable for the first stanza of the campaign.

Liverpool did not provide answers to requests for clarification of the right back’s exclusion or the extent of the defender’s injury.

The defender played only 45 minutes in Reds first pre-season match against Tranmere but has not played since then.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, 18, has impressed at Clyne’s position – right-back already this campaign with 20-year-old Joe Gomez, deputizing and head coach Jurgen Klopp might continue to rotate the two youngsters for the first stanza of the season.
