New kid on the block Kylian Mbappe who plies is trade for french club AS Monaco is set to join English side Arsenal FC in the summer according to Arsenal legend Robert Pires.
The France international striker, 18, is one of the hottest prospects in the whole of Europe at the moment having scored 13 goals for table topping Monaco in french Lique 1 and a further 5 goals in the money spinning European champions league. His contribution has led the french side to the semi-finals of the Uefa champions league.
The stellar performance has seen him linked to top European clubs such as Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Earlier this week arsenal boss Wenger admitted to not having the financial muscle to lure Mbappe down to England if he became available
But Robert Pires a member of the famous Arsenal ‘invicibles’ of the 2003/04 season, is of the believe he will head to the emirates stadium and Arsene Wenger is the ideal man to nurture his blossoming talent
Speaking to Bwin, he said “i do think Arsenal will sign him, the problem is how much. Mbappe has the potential to play for Arsenal and Wenger is the right man to manage him.Monaco and Arsenal are similar clubs, so it wont be much of a transition”
Speaking further, the comparison between Mbappe and Henry are obvious, with both players having blistering pace, deadly finish in front of goal and starting their careers at Monaco.
But Pires believes it Is unfair to be already mentioning Mbappe in the same league as Gunners record goalscorer.
The comparison is unnecessary, he is not ready to be compared to Thiery Henry. Mbappe is a very similar player but to compare the two players will be unfair.
“i hope that Kylian Mbappe can follow in Henry’s footsteps, he has the same profile as Henry- strong, quick and a great finisher but he is very young so i will hold off on comparison just yet”
