Thomas Lemar

Manchester United have received a major transfer boost following reports that AS Monaco are ready to sell Thomas Lemar for £55 million.

United have turned their attentions from signing Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan and Lemar has been the latest left winger to be linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Arsenal have been on the trail of the Frenchman since the beginning of the transfer window as Arsene Wenger hopes to bring in a replacement for transfer-bound Alexis Sanchez, with reports that the Gunners boss is a keen admirer of Lemar’s qualities and would push for a move.

However, the Gunners will have to beat Manchester United to the player’s signature following reports that Mourinho has told the club to look into signing the winger before the end of the summer window.

Reports in the Sun claim that Monaco are ready to allow Thomas Lemar leave for a fee in the region of £55 milliion.

Prior reports suggested that the Ligue 1 champions were unwilling to allow the 21-year-old leave this window despite the player openness to a move to Arsenal.

However, what seems yet to be known is whether Mourinho will sanction a £55 million deal to sign Lemar after insisting that United that will not pay overinflated transfer price for targets as they pursued Perisic’s signature.

Lemar was instrumental during Monaco’s title-winning campaign, netting 14 goals and 14 assists in the process.
