Arsenal star could end up like Arda Turan at FC Barcelona

With his Arsenal contract up at the end of the current campaign, Spanish La Liga giants FC Barcelona are divided on whether or not to initiate a transfer for the Germany international midfielder, according to Sport English.

There has been a number of interest from across Europe for the Arsenal playmaker, with the North London giant keen on tying him down to a new contract to keep him at the Emirates Stadium.

With Premier League giants Manchester United and La Liga h1`eavyweights FC Barcelona, the two most speculated sides in attempting to bring in Mesut Ozil, many Barcelona chiefs believe that the former Bayern Munich star may turn out to be the next Arda Turan, who has not lived up to expectations during his spell at the Nou Camp.

Mesut Ozil’s wage is another issue to overcome as per sources, with the German star reportedly requesting for €19 million per term, the same figure as Barcelona striker Luis Suarez.

The Catalan giant are desperate to bring in another high-profile player in the New Year after cashing in on Brazil international forward selling Neymar Jr. to French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain for a world transfer record fee.

The Spanish club, however, signed Ousmane Dembele from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, and are now looking to sign either Mesut Ozil or Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.
