Ivan Perisic

Manchester United have not made an official contact with Inter Milan over Ivan Perisic, according to Luciano Spalleti.

The Red Devils are said to be in hot in a chase for the Croatian winger since March with reports that Jose Mourinho met with the player’s representatives during an international break.

United are understood to be keen on landing the winger this summer and have contacted Inter over the possibility of signing him, with reports that the Italian club are holding out for an astronomical fee while others suggest that they are asking for stunning swap that will see Anthony Martial moving to the San Siro.

However, Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti has now claimed that the Red Devils have not made an official contact for the winger, despite reports of talks between both clubs.

He said: “There hasn’t been any important contact, there was something you already know about at the beginning of the window [but] there was no follow-up and so, for me, the topic is over.

“It’s true as time goes by, it becomes more and more difficult to replace him with another player. I will strongly oppose the sale of Perisic if an offer comes.”

Although, Jose Mourinho is believed to have told United’s executive vice president Ed Woodward to bring in two more players before the end of the transfer window.
