Liverpool Needs a New Coach and I’m Stressed the Ghost of Bill Shankly Will Be Disappointed

Liverpool is embarking on a search for a new manager, and I am legitimately worried that the ghosts of Anfield’s past are going to be disappointed. If they hire the wrong guy, I fully expect the famous “This Is Anfield” sign to spontaneously combust.

You don’t just manage Liverpool; you manage a century of expectations and thousands of very loud, very demanding supporters. The sheer pressure of the job makes my chest tight. I hope whoever they hire has a good therapist. Or an exorcist.
