Why Europa League is a must win affair for Arsenal
Arsenal will continue their run in this season’s Europa League against Qarabag on Thursday night having secured a win in their first game.
Suggestions are that the Europa League this season is a must win for the North London side and some players have started making their claims known on it.
Nacho Monreal who claimed to have been wounded by his side’s inability to win the European tournament last season said the wound must be healed this season by settling for the title.
Monreal’s hope of winning it last season was cut short in the semi-finals when they were eliminated by Spanish side Atletico Madrid and it is the same situation with other players who were at the Emirates Stadium last season.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery is also familiar with the European competition and the only way of proving his success he had at Sevilla is to hand his new employers the trophy.
Moreso, winning the Europa League is an automatic opportunity for Arsenal to gain easy qualification to the Champions League next season.
The North London side are not favourites for this season’s Premier League title as they have been tipped behind Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea for the league.
