Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking after his side’s 5-0 disappointing defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, said his boys lack of ruthlessness was a bigger issue for him than the red card his star player Sadio Mane received during the encounter.
Mane was sent off the pitch eight minutes before half-time for a hard challenge on Man City shot-stopper Ederson.
The visitors were already trailing to Aguero’s opening goal, but before the first goal came in for the host, the Reds were on top of the game and had some superb chances to score. Both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were able to torment City’s defence and gave them some real headaches.
And Liverpool boss Klopp thinks the problem his side faced in the game was that they couldn’t capitalise on their impressive promising start at Etihad, which subjected him to his biggest defeat since he became Liverpool’s boss.
‘[The] biggest problem was, we had all we needed to score goals, but [the boys] did not make the chances.’ the German boss said.
Man City dangerman Sergio Aguero scored for the sixth time in a row against the Merseyside club at the Etihad Stadium, passing a message to his manager that he’s still at the top of his form.
