Five-time European champions Liverpool have a clear run at one of their transfer targets according to reports from the French media.
The Reds have been linked with a move for Barcelona winger Malcom who has had a season to forget at the Nou Camp following his multi-million pounds move from French Ligue 1 club Bordeaux last summer.
French media portal Le 10 Sport claim that Chinese clubs have withdrawn their interest in the Brazilian winger thus leaving Liverpool as the clear favourites to secure his signature in the summer.
Barcelona could request for as much as £50m to let him leave permanently this summer.
Chinese clubs Dalian Yifang and Shanghai SIPG were keen on signing the 21-year-old but both clubs have shifted their focus elsewhere.
Dalian Yifang are closing on a move for Napoli’s leading scorer Marek Hamsik after they jettisoned their plans for Malcom.
Tottenham Hotspur also wanted to sign Malcom last month only for the move to fall through before the end of the winter transfer window.
Malcom has endured a frustrating season at Barcelona under the guidance of manager Ernesto Valverde following his €41m (£38) move from Bordeaux at the start of this season.
He joined Barcelona under controversial circumstances last summer having already agreed to join Italian club AS Roma.
Roma thought they had signed the winger before Barcelona swooped in on him.
