Paris Saint-Germain star player Grzegorz Krychowiak has emerged as a target for Chelsea this summer and is understood to have been on the club’s radar.
According to reports in France, the premier league champions have made an inquiry to the player’s entourage over a possible move for the midfielder this summer.
The former Sevilla player moved to the Paris club last summer where he signed a five-year deal with the Ligue I heavyweights. However, he had a frustrating debut campaign in the French top flight and was able to make just 11 appearances.
Nevertheless, French news outlet L’Equipe claim Chelsea have been monitoring Krychowiak’s situation and made contact with his representatives two weeks ago.
It is said that the Stamford Bridge club were checking on the player’s potential availability before they completed the deal for former Monaco defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
After emerging as premier league champions last season, Chelsea have been in the market for midfield reinforcements ahead of the 2017/18 term and Grzegorz, among others, has been on their radar.
But they were able to persuade France international Tiemoue Bakayoko to sign a fee of around £40million following weeks of speculation, and the Frenchman will be expected to partner his countryman N’Golo Kante in the heart of the midfield next season.
And for Krychowiak, the report added that Chelsea have made no further contact over a move for him.
