“We’re delighted” – shareholder breaks silence on new manager Arsenal appointment

Arsenal’s majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has backed newly appointed manager Unai Emery as the man to lead the Gunners back to the top of English Premier League football.

Emery eventually confirmed on Wednesday

The Spaniard manager was confirmed as Arsenal’s new manager on Wednesday after days of rumour linking him with the vacant role at the Emirates Stadium.

The North Londoner’s had been searching for a new boss after Arsene Wenger decided to step aside at the end of the campaign after a 22-year spell in charge of Arsenal.

Unai Emery emerged as the prime candidate to replace Wenger at the club on Monday, despite claims that they were leaning towards naming Spaniard Mikel Arteta as their new manager.

Kroenke glad to have Emery at Arsenal

Kroenke is renowned for not speaking to the press, but he was quick to talk about the reasons why the club had chosen to appoint Emery this week.

He told Arsenal’s official website, Kroenke: “We (Arsenal) are delighted to welcome Unai (Emery) to Arsenal. He (Emery) is a proven winner.

He said the Arsenal board is confident that Unai is the right man for the vacant job and that the Spaniard will work hard to deliver the success Arsenal fans, staff and all stakeholders want.
