Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed he was interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Dele Alli while he was playing for MK Dons.
The 21-year-old has been an impressive figure with Tottenham Hotspur, churning out brilliant displays and drawing interest from several clubs.
Ahead of the North London Derby between Spurs and Arsenal next Sunday, Arsene Wenger has revealed he watched Alli when he was playing for MK Dons but failed to sign as the midfielder joined their local rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
When asked about the player, Wenger said: ‘I think so, yes, we looked at it,’
‘He played for MK, down the road here. You have to say he’s done extremely well.
‘He works very well, he’s a complete player and very dangerous. He scores goals – absolutely marvellous at his age.’
He added: ‘They’ve done well to buy him and give him a chance, they deserve credit for that.
‘We watched him a few times I’m sure because we watched MK a lot.’
There are speculations that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants to bring Alli to the Etihad next summer, with suggestions that the Spaniard is a long term admirer of 21-year-old’s qualities.
The Gunners will hope to get the better off their rivals, Spurs next Sunday as they continue to fight for a top-four finish.
