Chelsea star player Nemanja Matic has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, and there are strong rumours Man United are interested in his signature.
However, the premier league champions are said to be keen on keeping the Serbian at Stamford Bridge and tie him down to a new contract.
It is understood that Matic has emerged as one of two major defensive midfield targets for Jose Mourinho this summer, with Spurs’ Eric Dier also high on the Portuguese’s list of priorities.
However, Tottenham does not appear to be ready to let go of Dier, and Matic is said to be keen on reuniting with his old boss Mourinho at Manchester.
Chelsea are closing in on the signing of French star Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco. Bakayoko is also a defensive midfielder, but it appears Antonio Conte still see Nemanja as an important part of his plans for next season.
And the Daily Mail says Chelsea are very much hopeful of holding down Matic by giving him a new deal so as to avoid losing him.
Even though Chelsea are yet to make a major signing this summer, the premier league champions have been linked with big players as Conte is determined to bolster his squad ahead of a busy campaign next season.
