Chelsea receive updates on how to complete transfer of 30-year-old midfielder

According to reporter Julien Laurens, Premier League Champions Chelsea would have to hold on until the off-season to midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The Blues have been strongly linked with a transfer move to land the Chilean international over the past one year or so.

Indeed, the versatile midfielder played under Chelsea manager Antonio Conte at Serie A side Juventus for two years, winning consecutive Serie A titles.

Vidal, 30, was speculated to be up for transfer in the summer under Italian tactician Carlo Ancelotti, fuelling rumour of a move to England.

However, the Ancelotti has since left the Bundesliga Champions and Jupp Heynckes has returned to the club on an interim basis.

The Chilean international midfielder has netted five goals and has provided two assists in 14 matches in the German league this season.

The French football expert ruled out the midfielder leaving the Bundesliga outfit in the current window.

The Stamford Bridge outfit signed England international midfielder Ross Barkley in a £15million transfer from Merseyside club Everton earlier in the winter transfer window.

The Antonio Conte led side have won the English title twice in the last three seasons.
