Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte says he’s set to play youngster Andreas Christensen in place of suspended star defender David Luiz following his sending off against Arsenal.

David Luiz will miss matches against Nottingham Forest, Stoke City, and Manchester City after he was red-carded for a wild lunge on Sead Kolasinac.

Surprisingly, Antonio Conte decided to bring on defender Andreas Christensen to shore up his backline instead of summer signing Antonio Rudiger.

Andreas Christensen has spent the last two campaigns at German Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach gaining much-needed experience, and he earned top reviews from his time in Germany.

The Bundesliga side were keen to sign the Danish permanently, but Antonio Conte decided to bring him back to Chelsea and integrate him into the first-team squad.

The defender has now played five matches for Chelsea this season and will have an opportunity to start the next three games.

Some of the club’s brightest youngster’s are expected to be handed the chance to showcase their skills when the Blues face Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

The Blues play Nottingham Forest in the third round of the League cup, now Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge, and Conte has revealed that youngsters of his team will get some important game time against Forest.

Chelsea have seven matches in September, having started their UEFA Champions League campaign last week with a thrilling 6-0 victory over Azerbaijan club Qarabag, before Sunday’s goalless draw with City rivals Arsenal.
