Chelsea leading transfer race for world-class striker to partner Morata; Man Utd also interested

Reigning Premier League Champions Chelsea haven’t got a prolific goalscoring record this campaign, but reports suggest that could change this summer window with striker Robert Lewandowski tipped to join the West London club.

Underperforming Chelsea strikers

Chelsea have netted only 50 goals in 29 English Premier League matches, giving them the worst record of the top six teams as the likes of Spain international striker Alvaro Morata and Belgian forward Eden Hazard have not been able to find the net as regularly as required.

While winter signing from Arsenal Olivier Giroud hands them an alternative, it doesn’t seem to have totally fixed the problem, and so The Sun suggest that the Blues are leading the race to land Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski.

Real Madrid and Manchester United are also thought to be interested in the Polish international forward, but it’s Chelsea who are handed the best opportunity of signing him this summer, according to reports.

Prolific Polish striker

The 29-year-old has netted 320 career goals in 513 matches during his stints with Bayern Munich, Dortmund and Lech Poznan.

Further, he’s scored fifty one goals in ninety one matches for Poland, and the forward has seemingly improved with age given that he’s scored 40 plus goals in the last two campaigns with Bayern Munich.
