Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has played down the rumour about his Stamford Bridge future after he was seen in Turin recently.
Tough Chelsea debut season
Alvaro Morata endured a tough debut campaign at the Premier League club after having signed for Chelsea from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the summer window last year.
Morata, 25, initially made a bright start to his Chelsea career, but his shape tailed off in the second stanza of the campaign after he sustained a back problem midway through the season.
The Spain international striker ended up falling behind winter recruit Olivier Giroud in the pecking order at the West London club in the second half of the season as he struggled heavily for both fitness and form.
The forward’s lack of regular playing time and disappointing debut season in the Premier League has inevitably prompted rumour about his Chelsea future.
“I’m a Chelsea player” – Morata
He was spotted in the City of Turin recently, with the former Real Madrid striker having spent two terms at Serie A champions Juventus before returning to Santiago Bernabeu.
However, the Spaniard has played down the significance of his visit to Turin by insisting that his Chelsea situation has not changed.
The Blues did manage to end the campaign on a good note as they won 1-0 over rivals Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup final in May at Wembley Stadium.
