With the summer transfer window set to close on the 31st of August, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is looking to strengthen his squad with more quality signings in the coming weeks.

Liverpool have so far signed Dominic Solanke from Chelsea, Mohamed Salah from AS Roma and Englishman Andrew Robertson, but are still lacking in some major areas.

This was seen clearly during Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Watford in their first Premier League match of the season, with their lack of stability in defense, in particular, showing the need to sign another centre-back.

And speaking to newsmen after the season opening match, Jurgen Klopp admitted the Reds were pursuing transfer deals, but stressed that signing a fresh defender may not solve his team’s set-piece frailty.

Klopp, after the match, applauded the traveling fans after the 3-3 draw during the season opening Premier League match between Watford and Liverpool FC at Vicarage Road.

Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk remains the main target, and with the Dutchman submitting a transfer request a week ago, an offer may be imminent.

But the former Dortmund manager is also looking to sign a midfielder before the end of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool currently have players like Nathaniel Clyne (back), Adam Lallana (thigh), Philippe Coutinho (back) and Daniel Sturridge (thigh) out injured, highlighting the need to sign more quality players.

We will wait to see which experience midfielders are on Jurgen Klopp’s searchlight, though England and Arsenal man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may be a good option, and it will be interesting to see if more transfer targets emerge.
