The summer transfer window is gone for good, and as expected, lots of things that happened at the backstage is coming to light.

While the window was still on, one of the star players that was constantly in the news was Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian playmaker was linked with a big-money move to Spanish giants Barcelona, and the Catalan giants were thought to have offered £138 Million for the player.

It was believed that Liverpool were not interested in selling their samba star irrespective of any offer received from Barcelona who have seen him as an ideal replacement for Neymar who was sold to PSG.

However, Barcelona’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu, speaking recently about the situation, made it known that Countiho’s club were actually prepared to send him over to Camp Nou if they received an offer of €200 million (£177m) for him.

It was made known that the Merseyside club actually set a value for Phi that Barca were not ready to meet.

The player himself is understood to be keen on joining Barcelona, but the two sides could not agree a fee before the closure of the transfer window.

Speaking in an interview with TV3, the Barca chief revealed:

‘I won’t say how much we offered, but they asked for €200m [and] we were not going to give [them] €200m or [even] €150m’
