Napoli star player Lorenzo Insigne is a hot prospect this summer after emerging as a target for a handful of top clubs across Europe including Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool.
But in a new development, there are reports that Napoli have rejected a bid from Spanish heavyweights Barcelona that is in the region of £54.5million for the player, handing a possible boost to the duo of Chelsea and Liverpool.
Insigne has shone for Napoli in recent times, and last season in the Serie A, he was able to score 18 goal. His impressive performances has made him one of the most sought after player.
Barcelona moved a step ahead to get his signature by submitting a fee around £54.5 Million to Napoli, but were rejected by the Serie A club. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, it is unlikely that the Catalan giants will go back for the Italian star since they are confident they can bring in both Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele before the end of this transfer window.
It is believed that Liverpool will now step up their interest in Lorenzo as they look for a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
It was however added that Napoli are not under pressure to sell the Italy international as his current contract at the club is meant to expire in 2022.
