Arsenal set to hijack Tottenham’s £35m deal for defender– reports

According to Football London, North London giants Arsenal are set to do-battle with Tottenham Hotspurs and hijack their efforts to sign Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez before the summer transfer window closes.

The Colombian is regarded as one of the best young Center backs in the whole of Europe after enjoying a superb debut season with Dutch club Ajax following his transfer last summer.

Sanchez, 21, has attracted interest from several top European clubs, but reports late last week indicated that the Center half was heading to North London club Tottenham.

The Sun reported that Sanchez had agreed to personal terms with Tottenham after Spurs had supposedly agreed on a £35m fee with Ajax for him.

The defender was then left out of the Ajax team for their match with Heracles on Saturday evening with manager Marcel Keizer confirming the defender wasn’t focused enough to play due to the rumour surrounding his future.

However, Football London reported that discussion of a ‘done deal’ with Spurs is wide of the mark and quoted a report from De Telegraaf that says the race for his signature could happen.

The same publication suggests that other suitors will now make their transfer move for Sanchez after he was excluded from the Ajax playing squad and they name the Gunners as one of the teams who are lining-up an offer.
