Arsene Wenger has said all summer that the attacker is not for sale, but his below performance in Sunday’s thrashing at Anfield looks to have changed Wenger’s stance.

Arsenal accepted a £40million bid from Premier League Champions Chelsea on Tuesday, but the versatile midfielder is said to have rejected a move to Stamford Bridge, unhappy with the idea of competing with Nigerian Victor Moses for the right wing-back role.

He is believed to, instead, desire to join Liverpool under former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp in the belief he has a good chance of sealing a role in his favorite central midfield position.

We wait to see whether or not the Reds will come back with an improved offer, or wait till next summer when they can land the former Southampton midfielder on a free transfer.

Another Englishman surely on his way out of Emirate Stadium is long-serving left full defender Kieran Gibbs who has signed for West Brom in a £7million deal having rejected a transfer to Watford earlier this summer.
