Reports indicate unsettled Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is set to hand in a transfer request to force through a transfer from Arsenal to rivals Manchester City.

The wantaway striker will demand that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger lets him leave the North London club this summer.

Sanchez has refused to renew his contract at Arsenal and has just 12 months remaining on his current contract.

As per The Mirror, the Chilean will submit a transfer request to the club this week.

The forward was due to return to training with the Gunners today, but due to a bout of flu he has been given extra time off.

Sanchez, 28, is returning late to pre-season training after participating in the FIFA Confederations Cup for Chile this summer.

The Arsenal manager confirmed Alexis Sanchez is ill but is confident his star striker will stay at the London club.

Alexis Sanchez was in brilliant form for the Gunners last season, scoring 30 goals and providing 19 assists in all competitions.

Bayern Munich and PSG were interested in the Chilean, but his wage demands of £400,000-weekly has seen their interest fade.

Sanchez hopes a personal appeal to the Arsenal manager will force through a move to Premier League rivals Manchester City.
