According to latest reports, Dimitri de Conde, Genk technical director, has told English Premier League giant Manchester United that a transfer move for talented youngster Leon Bailey will cost them somewhere between £17-21M.
The 19-year-old winger keeps dazzling for his club in both the Belgian league and in the Europa Cup, and his superb performances attracted the attention of big clubs in Europe. It was said that English Premier League sides Manchester United and EPL defending champions Leicester City are among the talented star’s biggest admirers.
Due to his current form which made him an asset to the club, Genk would ideally like to keep the Jamaican teenager, but the technical director admitted that the club cannot turn down big money if it comes along.
‘If mega bids, by Belgian standards, are made, then we cannot reject it, and if the boys also feel ready for a step up then it will be very difficult to keep them in Genk. I must be ready with alternatives,’ he said.
‘In the category of players 20 or under, then these boys are absolutely top talents, so I think a fee of between €20-€25 million is certainly warranted.’
Even though Manchester United presently have different options in attacking midfield, Jose Mourinho is more interested in seeing good results and he want players who will give him just that.
