Is this the year Tottenham Hotspur will finish above Arsenal in the Premier League?

The Arsenal side under the guidance of ageless and want out manager Arsene Wenger had been in long time rivalry over their London counterpart Tottenham Hotspur. But with the class and pedigree of Arsenal great stars like Mars Overmars, Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Viera the Gunners had gained an ascendance over their Tottenham rivals in the Premier League.

Though the Spurs side had produced Super stars like Dimitar Berbatov, Aaron Lennon and David Bentley to name a few but they have found themselves under the shadows of their London Rivals Arsenal who outwitted them many at times to finish a float in the top of the League Table.

One of the clash at the Emirates saw Arsenal win 3-0 over the visiting Tottenham side as goals from inspirational skipper Cesc Fabregas (who grabbed a brace on the occasion with the first a brilliant solo run) and Robin Van Persie finished expertly to make it 3-0 to dispatch the Spurs side to confirm their superiority on that occasion. Over the years the Spurs side have improved especially from the exit of Real star Gareth Bale to the Santiago Bernabeu as the Tottenham side began a new project under manager Mauricio Pochettino following his arrival from the (Saints) Southampton side.

The signing of young talents like Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Eric Dier coupled with the emergence of striker Harry Kane from the Tottenham’s U-21 side due to the need for striking options at White Hart Lane after the exit of center forward Jermaine Dofoe  have really helped the Tottenham’s course under new management and a positive euphoria and administration.

This have seen the Spurs side difficult to beat in recent times and also this season they had dealt with the likely Champions Chelsea in the two meetings in the Premier League this season. With Arsenal having some problems of their own and the uncertainty and distractions emanating from the Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil contract talks it looks like the Tottenham side may have their last laugh on Arsenal for once at least this season.

Both sides drew 1-1 at the Emirates with the reverse fixture yet to be played and with Mauricio Pochettino’s team looking stronger in every game it looks like they will surely finish above Arsenal in the current Campaign.

Last term it looked it was going to happen as Tottenham were in the title haunt with eventual Champions Leicester City but needed to beat another London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to take the title race to the wire but they failed as Eden Hazard equalized with a beauty of a goal in the top corner for Chelsea to dash Tottenham’s hopes of the title.

This heartbreak (failed dream) saw Tottenham finish below Arsenal as they lost the other three games with nothing to contend for since Champions League football had been confirmed already.

With Chelsea 10 points clear (69 points to Tottenham 59points) the Spurs side will have to concentrate on finishing above Arsenal who are fifth on the log and looking feeble after the 3-1 defeat at the Hawthorns to the West Brom side.

The Question is can Spurs now take advantage of Arsenal woes and finish above the Gunners this term, this is looking likely as Tottenham will be keeping some kinds of hope alive on the title race with more win and consistency in the League as the Gunners are walking a tight rope outside the top four.

On the other hand don’t rule out the Gunners as nothing is certain and confirmed yet (as only 9 points separate the London side {Tottenham and Arsenal}) as regards to League position this season in the Premier League.
