What the stats says as regards to Chelsea vs Man United game at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues defeated Manchester United 1-0 as Mourinho’s men missed out on the chance to book a place in the last four of the FA Cup which will take place at Wembley Stadium. The Chelsea side were terrific on the night as the likes of Eden Hazard and Willian Borges were scintillating on both sides of the wings.

The Red Devils had their chances as striker Marcos Rashford had a go at Gary Cahill but Courtois was Chelsea Saviour as he came to the rescue by tipping Marcos Rashford striker over the bar with Cahill well beaten on the occasion.

In all it was Chelsea’s night as N’golo Kante Chelsea beat United 1-0 to set up a London affair with Tottenham Hotspur in the Semi-Finals of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium.

The Blues had the last laugh as Kante won the game for the host to overcome United and Jose Mourinho in the FA Cup match.

Chelsea were superior in the attacking position as United lacked fire power especially with the absence of talismanic figure in Zlatan Ibrahimovic who would have aided United’s course going forward in transition.

Chelsea were menacing from all cylinders and this saw forwards like Willian Borges, Victor Moses including Nemanja Matic threatening United area before Kante found the breakthrough/opener(1-0) for the Chelsea side.

The home side were really dominant as you will expect following the quality and Chelsea midfield dynamics.

The likes of Kante and Nemanja Matic had formed a perfect blend in midfield as they do the defensive jobs in tandem with the attacking moves to leave no stone unturned in the Chelsea’s midfield as Paul Pogba was given a tips of the eyes bird when N’golo Kante dribbled him in the midfield.

The statistics here as regards to the number of corner-kicks both side amassed showed where the game was trending to. This was a clear evidence of United’s inactivity in the attacking third as Chelsea showed incessant urgency and interest in the opposing half to win the game.

The Blues were caught offside on two occasion for genuine reasons as Chelsea attempted to double their advantage in the game following N’golo Kante’s opener in the 51st minute of the game.

Diego Costa was caught out by the lines man as the Blues forward was lurking around behind the United defence as the visitors managed two offsides themselves.

Expectedly the game between the two heavyweights was going to end in some physical and aerial duels and it was no surprise as the match at Stamford Brigde produced (14+7) 21fouls in the 90minutes affair.

 

 

United committed 14 fouls in the game to Chelsea’s 7 in the game. This was due to the visitor’s lack of activity on the ball as they tried to get the ball off the Chelsea players (Eden) Hazard.

YELLOW CARDS

The Red Devils got what they deserve in 2 Yellow cards as they committed a total of 14 fouls in the entire match while the Blues were booked once following some poor performance of a Chelsea player which led to unnecessary foul due to frustration.

 

It was Costa with the Yellow card in the 87th minute while United duo of Ander Herrera and Ashley Young paid the price (booking) in the 20th and 79th minutes of the game respectively as the Blues won 1-0.

RED CARDS

It was a bizarre scenario for the Red Devils as Ander Herrera got himself into trouble as the match referee booked him for the second time following subsequent fouls on (Eden) Hazard after the  after the referee had issued warning on the United side not to foul the skillful forward.

The Red Card came in the 35th minutes as the Spaniard was dismissed in the game as United finished the game with 10 men losing 1-0 in the process.
