Mamadou Sakho

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho reportedly on the radar for Southampton.

Reports in France claims that the Reds defender could be on his way out of Merseyside and the Saints have emerged as favourites to sign him.

Sakho has had torrid time at Anfield since Jurgen Klopp this season due to his behaviour. The Reds boss was disgusted with the defender’s attitude and sent him home from the club’s pre season tour in United States of America; subsequently he was banished to the Under-23 where he has remained and has not made single appearance for the first team this season. The arrival of Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip also further pecked the French defender’s progress at the Anfield.

Earlier reports suggested Galastaray were leading the race to sign the 26-year-old defender who has only made five appearances for the reserves.

French publication, Get French Football tweeted: “Southampton are heavily considering a move for Liverpool central defender Mamadou Sakho. More follows,”

Southampton are also preparing for the exit of centre-back Virgil van Dijk after his refusal to extend his current contract that expires in June 2018. Manchester United are said to be keen on signing the Dutch defender following his solid performances  so far the current Premier League season.
