Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez has rejected the chance to sign for Chelsea, according to reports.

Reports in the Tuttosport claim that the Switzerland international has turned down the chance to join Chelsea and wants to join Inter Milan, despite keen interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germaine.

Following their takeover by a Chinese owners Suning Holdings Group, the Italian giants are considering moves for quite a number of stars in Europe with Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez said to be one of their targets.

Rodriguez has been linked with a move to the Premier League with Arsenal and Chelsea believed to be favourites but a late move from the Serie A giants is set to thwart the English clubs’ efforts.

However, Inter may have to sell players first to conclude a deal in the January transfer window with reports that Ever Banega might be the player leaving as the likes of Juventus, Everton and the Chinese Super League.

The 24-year-old defender has a £19 million release in his contract which has put off Arsene Wenger from completing a move in the last summer transfer window.

Antonio Conte is reportedly said to have considered the left-back as an option to Marco Alonso who is currently deployed in the wing-back position in a 3-4-3 formation for the Blues.
