Many had expected English Premier League outfit Man United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to do some transfer business in the just-concluded winter transfer window but it did not happen.
The Red Devils are believed to be in need of a defender with expectations that there could be an addition in that position but it ever came through.
However, it is now clear that he is not to blame for the lack to transfer activities in the last January transfer window as he made it clear that his only responsibility is to make sure players perform on the pitch.
While stressing that he does not have the right to enforce a player on the club, he is in the position to give advice to the club on the player that would fit in and that will happen either remains as the coach or not at the end of the season because of his relationship with the club.
However, it is unclear if manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will remain as United boss at the end of the season as the club are bent on having a new manager who has got the experience of being at a bigger stage in his career.
