Manchester United may be prepared to yet again break the world transfer record for the second summer in a row.
According to reports in The Independent, Man United boss Jose Mourinho will pay a superb £100 million for highly rated Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.
25-year old Griezmann won the Golden Boot as top scorer at UEFA Euro 2016 with six goals. Additionally, the France international has been to two Champions League finals with his side Atletico Madrid.
Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho broke the world transfer record for Frenchman Paul Pogba in the summer of 2016 in a startling £89 million deal.
The red devils boss apparently needs a long-term successor to 35-year-old impressive hugeman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the EPL’s joint leading scorer this season.
It was also said that the Madrid club are interested in replacing Griezmann with £40m-rated Diego Costa, who is reportedly seeking a move away from Chelsea this month too.
Definitely, any deal for Antoine Griezmann will almost certainly break the £100 million barrier for the first time in history. He has scored 51 goals in 92 La Liga appearances for Atletico Madrid and he recently remarked that he is very happy at the Spanish club for the time being. But we doubt if A.Madrid won’t persuade him away considering the huge fee.
