Arsenal legend Paul Merson has apologised to his former team after they pulled out a surprise performance against Liverpool on Saturday to end in 1-1 draw.

There were insinuations that the Arsenal team will not be able to compete against the Reds team with Emerson being a major campaigner of the narrative but he was proved wrong with an impressive performance from his former side.

The North London team had a better first-half performance before coming from 1-0 goal down to end the game with a 1-1 draw. All thanks to Alexandre Lacazette who handed his side the leveller.

Merson who had claimed that the Merseyside team will come to the Emirates Stadium to pick up all three points has now come out to apologise. He clearly stated that he got it wrong.

He was on his Twitter handle to claim fair play and also admit he was wrong about his former side, expressing delight that they were able to pull a surprise and also show that they are improving every week.

Merson added that he never meant to look down at the club but only gave an honest opinion of what he felt before the game.

Howbeit, Arsenal have gone 14 games unbeaten, winning 12 of those fixtures across all competitions.
