While an official announcement is still being awaited Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma chief Monchi would be a Gunner as he has given his nod, according to reports.

The report claims that he would be coming in to take over the role as the club’s technical director, which he is respected and widely known to be good at the job.

Monchi has got a contract running with the Italian Serie A outfit until 2020 but The Mirror claims he is interested in a switch to England and will terminate his contract with AS Roma to answer the call at the North London outfit.

However, Monchi is expected to have a good stay at the Emirate Stadium knowing that he has a good relationship with the Gunners boss Unai Emery in their days at La Liga outfit Sevilla.

During their spell, Sevilla won the Europa League for three consecutive years and that is being expected to happen with the North London outfit.

The Gunners are hoping they can return to winning ways and compete with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the League title rather than struggling with top four qualifications soon.

This development is coming after the Gunners head of recruitment Sven Mislintat announced his decision to quit the job at the Emirate Stadium next month.
