Sporting director of AC Milan Massimiliano Mirabelli is either overconfident, or he was in a cheerful mood on Friday afternoon after the UEFA Europa League draw.
Mouthwatering Europa league clash expected
The Serie A side will lock horns with Arsenal in the round of16 of the continental competition, with the first leg of the crunch fixture taking place in Italy at the San Siro on the 8th of March, before the return leg at the Emirates Stadium a week later.
Both sides are currently struggling in their domestic leagues to seal a UEFA Champions League qualification place, and so the UEFA Europa League represents their best opportunity of booking a place back at Europe’s elite competition next term.
Bold prediction
The AC Milan chief has hinted that he feels Arsenal’s journey in the continent will end in March when the two teams meet, apologising to Arsenal ahead of what he feels will be their elimination.
Having missed out of Europe in recent campaigns, this will be a massive platform for AC Milan to perform pretty well and make a huge statement to suggest that they’re on their way back.
While the Gunners have struggled this campaign that shouldn’t take away the fact that this should be a good and competitive clash between two teams desperate to perform better and win a major silverware this year.
