Manchester United have been dealt a major blow following reports that their summer target, Marquinhos have penned a new deal with Paris Saint Germain.
The Brazilian defender has been tipped to make a summer move from the Parc des Princes with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea credited with an interest in the player.
However, the defender has now move on, penning a new five year deal with the French giants ruling out a summer move.
Earlier reports suggested that Jose Mourinho have monitored the player’s transfer situation and even submitted a massive 62 million pounds for the Brazilian in a bid to sign him this summer.
Barcelona and Juventus were also linked to move for Marquinhos but this latest development could have scuppered their plans, with reports that Barce had even met with the player’s representatives and told them their plans of making the player one of their long terms goals.
Speaking recently to the club’s official website, Marquinhos said: “I have always said I’m happy to play for Paris Saint-Germain, and this contract extension is further proof of my commitment to the club.
Manchester United have already brought in Victor Lindelof from Benfica this summer but there are suggestions that Mourinho wants to add more steel to his backline.
