Liverpool forward Xerdan Shaqiri has been named the second best signing of the season.
The Swiss international star was made the second best signing by Sunday Times journalist Jonathan Northcroft.
Northcroft was speaking on the Football Writers’ podcast as he pointed out the impact made by the petite player since he joined the Reds in the summer.
Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira was named the signing of the season ahead of the aforementioned Shaqiri.
Torreira has been an instant hit with the Gunners since his transfer from Italian Serie A side Sampdoria and was recently part of the Arsenal squad that went 22 games without a defeat.
It was not surprising that the Uruguayan finished as the best signing ahead of Xerdan Shaqiri who has been in superb form for Liverpool.
Shaqiri joined the Reds in the summer from English Championship side Stoke City.
Liverpool activated the £13m release clause in his contract with the Potters who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
The finest hour in his short time at Liverpool came in the huge clash with rivals Manchester United at home.
Xerdan Shaqiri came off the bench with the score at 1-1 and went on to net two goals to give his side a 3-1 victory.
